CHIA helps out upstart Habit Iced Tea
Nelson College and Nelson College for Girls students, Tim Ward, left, Connor Johnston, Sally Milton and Liam Taylor with Chloe Van Dyke, centre of Chia Ltd. Chloe Van Dyke is mentoring the students in developing their drink product Habit Iced Tea, as part of the Young Enterprise Scheme. Students from Nelson College and Nelson College for Girls are taking advice from an award winning health drink creator to come up with their own brand of iced tea. The students have chosen to develop a product based on their own version of the traditional summer drink for a project as part of the Young Enterprise Scheme.
Student Tim Ward said they had brought in Chia creator Chloe Van Dyke as a mentor to help "show them the ropes" towards inventing a new type of loose leaf iced tea. At the moment the group was experimenting with different blends of summer fruit and green teas. Pomeroy's is one of the suppliers of the teas. Ward said they hoped to launch their product towards the end of winter, when more people were likely to favour drinking the cool brew. The Young Enterprise group hoped to eventually sell the iced tea in cafes and at supermarkets.
